Details. Looking up at a well-stocked wall of whiskey can be daunting indeed. What makes a bourbon different from a Single Malt Scotch whisky? What does "peated" mean? What are the different kinds of Irish Whiskey? Why is it sometimes spelled with an "e"? And perhaps the most important question of all: what kinds of whiskey do I prefer? A guided whiskey tour at 8 Bells seeks to answer these questions in a relaxing and engaging setting.

Introduction to Irish Pot Still Whiskey will start with a continuously-distilled whiskey and then delve into offerings from Powers, Mitchell & Sons, and Redbreast. The selection is curated to showcase the diversity of this most traditional Irish distilling.

Kevin's tours weave together history, anecdotes, and comparative tasting into a relaxing and fun evening. Participants will taste through a flight of 4 whiskies that vary with the evening's destination & theme. Each person will also take with them an 8 Bells branded Glencairn whiskey glass. With an emphasis on enjoying the spirits and comradery, together we'll seek to discover what you like in a whiskey and how you prefer to drink it in a comfortable pub atmosphere and in good company.

About Your Guide.

Kevin Callahan's love of whiskey was kindled over a decade ago at O'Loclain's Pub in Ballyvaughan in County Clare, Ireland. Irish friends passed a glass of Green Spot and well, that was that. In the ensuing years his enthusiasm has grown not only for whiskey, but also for introducing others and guiding them through regional styles, distilling techniques, and the art of aging spirit from new make to the amber tipple we are privileged to enjoy. Kevin has given many tours privately sourced from his own collection and is thrilled to join with 8 Bells to deepen patrons' appreciation for the pub's collection.
